Mit 1 g kann man nur 1g.
Kommt dann 2 g dazu, kann man zusätzlich 2g und 3g.
Mit zusätzlich 4 g kann man zusätzlich 4 g, 5 g, 6 g und 7 g.
Mit zusätzlich 8 g kann man zusätzlich 8 g, 9 g, 10 g, 11 g, 12 g, 13 g, 14 g und 15 g.
Und so weiter.
Mit zusätzlich 2^n Gramm kann man zusätzlich 2^n Gramm bis 2^(n+1)-1 Gramm.
2^(n+1)-1 ist größer gleich als M (Gramm), wenn
n ≥ ln(M+1)/ln(2)-1.
Für M = 1000 g erhält man n ≥ 9 (entsprechend zehn Gewichten) und für M = 500 000 000 g (entsprechend 500 t) n ≥ 28 (entsprechend 29 Gewichten). Speziell letzteres ist eine erstaunlich geringe Anzahl. Das hängt mit dem exponentiellen Wachstum von n -> 2^n zusammen.
